PERU – Using a grant from the Maine State Planning Office, a 20-month planning initiative will kick off on Wednesday, July 9, with a strawberry social and a forum for public comment.
The event, scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Peru School auditorium, is designed to begin compiling an inventory of local assets and identifying local needs and issues. Residents will be asked what they like about Peru, what they don’t like and what changes, if any, they’d like to see. In the coming months, townspeople will help articulate strategies for managing the town’s future growth. Refreshments, donated by the event’s sponsor, Ridge Road Self Storage, will be served by the Friends on a Mission youth group.
Any Peru resident interested in serving on the Comprehensive Planning Committee should contact the town clerk, Vera Parent at 562-4627 or by e-mail at vera@megalink.net
