NORWAY – A four-part series about Norway’s past will kick off Wednesday, July 9, at the Norway Historical Society. All programs will be held from noon to 1 p.m. and repeated from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Programs are: Norway Fire of 1894 by Peter Hammond; Lake Pennesseewassee by Joy Moll and Bruce Cook; Norway’s Characters by the Rev. Don McAllister; and Norway’s Other Notable Author, Sylvanus Cobb Jr., by Larry Glatz.

Weather program
WOODSTOCK – The Woodstock Historical Society will have a program on weather at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 12, at the society building.
Speakers will be Jim Mansfield, data acquisition program manager from the National Weather Service in Gray; and Paula Smith of Andover, a co-operative weather observer for the weather service in Gray.
Fun day
OXFORD – The Hosanna New Testament Church is sponsoring a Community Fun Day beginning with a giant yard and craft sale at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 12, at the church, 109 Schoolhouse Road. At noon there will be free hot dogs and soft drinks.
Rob McCarthy and Lester Wing have planned an afternoon of events including a Moon Bounce and other outdoor childrens activities. There will also be entertainment by the Down Home Blue Grass Band, an antique car show, free blood pressure screening by Oxford Rescue and family exhibits.

SUMNER – There will be a free lecture on Growing Small Fruits and Berries at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 13, at Hedgehog Hill Farm conducted by Mark Silber, author, lecturer and gardener. The gardens are open to the public for strolls, painting and photographing from 9 a.m.t o 5 p.m. every day except Mondays.

AARP speaker
PARIS – The Oxford Hills Chapter of AARP will meet at 1:30 p.m. Monday, July 14, at the South Paris VFW hall on East Main Street. Rudi Honkala of Bethel will speak about his life experiences and his career with the National Weather Service, living on an island off Alaska and making expeditions to the South Pole.
New members are always welcome. Wally Taft will update the membership on trips planned.

BERLIN, N.H. – Good Shepherd Parish will host a free concert by The Little Singers of St. Peter College in Brussels, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, at St. Anne Church, 345 Pleasant St.

Seniors meet
WEST PARIS – The West Paris Senior Citizens spent a recent day at the summer home of Evelyn Chamberlain at Pleasant Pond in Sumner. There was a luncheon and meeting. The next luncheon and program will be at the home of Bertha DeHaas, 35 Church St., on Tuesday, Aug. 5.
3-point meeting
BETHEL – West Paris Grange and Waterford Grange recently joined Pleasant Valley Grange in West Bethel for a three-point meeting.
The speaker was Lowell Lamoreau, state Grange deputy from Sagadahoc Pomona Grange. He spoke about changes in the Grange.
Music was provided by Peggy Blake, Russell Yates, Jackie Stevens, Amy Andrews, Betty Bragg, Nancy and Andy Dewing and Bertha DeHaas, accompanied by Marjorie Kimball on piano.
