JAY – Eric Goodrow has been hired as a full-time police officer, Jay Police Chief Larry G. White Sr. announced recently. Goodrow began full-time duties on June 16.
Goodrow, 22, of Wilton is the son of Shawn and Joan Goodrow, and a 1999 graduate of Mount Blue High School, where he was in the forestry/wood harvesting program.
He was employed as a professional logger for four years, working for T&R Flagg logging of Livermore Falls and Milan Gammon of Rumford Center.
Goodrow completed the Maine Criminal Justice Academy pre-service 100-hour course in March 2002. He’s been working in law enforcement since then as a reserve officer for the Jay, Livermore Falls and Rumford police departments prior to this full-time job.
He has two sisters, Elizabeth, 23, who currently is in Iraq, and Sarah, 16, a senior at Mount Blue High School.
“Officer Goodrow has done an outstanding job as a reserve officer for the Jay Police Department,” White said in a press release. “I believe he will be a valuable addition to the staff of the Jay Police Department.”
Goodrow was hired to fill a vacancy created when Officer Troy Young resigned for personal reasons, the press release stated. Young is still employed as a reserve officer with the department.
