PARIS – Alyssa Groetzinger, who was acquitted of manslaughter but found guilty of operating under the influence in 2002, pleaded not guilty Tuesday to parole violation charges in Oxford County Superior Court.

Groetzinger of Norway, now 21, admitted she had been drinking and driving on Oct. 29, 2000, when she crashed, killing a 16-year-old girl who was a passenger.

On that night, Groetzinger lost control of her car on Damon Road in Norway and the rear of the vehicle slammed into a tree trunk.

She was sentenced on Feb. 7, 2002, to 364 days in the county jail, with all but six months suspended and one year of probation.

The probation started after Groetzinger served the jail sentence.

The current parole violation charges came when officials said Groetzinger proved positive for marijuana use on a May 21 test and said she had failed to attend counseling.

The hearing date for Groetzinger on the parole violation charge was not set.
