RANGELEY – Strawberry shortcake with real whipped cream for $3.50 will be the highlight of the 6th Annual Rangeley Region Guides’ and Sportsmen’s Association Strawberry Festival.
The Strawberry Festival will be held on Thursday, July 10, at the Oquossoc Town Park on Carry Road, according to Event Chair Carol Harvey.
The festival will feature more than 60 food and craft vendors, a yard sale and of course, the famous strawberry shortcake.
The event raises money for the Rangeley Region Guides’ and Sportsmen’s Association, which helps to “preserve the fishing and wildlife in the Rangeley area, maintain the quality of fishing and educate kids,” according to Harvey.
“The Sportsmen’s Club started way back and has greatly evolved,” into an organization that now has more than 500 active members.
This year’s event will be presided over by Strawberry Festival royalty, King John Thomas and Queen Joanne Koob, both of Rangeley. Little Miss Strawberry will be chosen on Thursday by those attending the Strawberry Festival. All the contestants are little girls between the ages of birth and 5 years old who have submitted their photos for consideration, prior to the Strawberry Festival.
