GARDINER – Maine-ly Harmony, a women’s barbershop chorus of about 25 members, competed in Nashua, N.H.

The chorus, under the direction of co-directors Denise Dyer and Yvonne Drake, competed against much larger choruses from Canada, the New England states, New York and New Jersey. The singers placed seventh, performing “Alexander’s Ragtime Band” and “Give Me a Barbershop Song.”

The chorus, which meets at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays at the Pray Street School, performs for local organizations as well as nursing and retirement homes. On June 1 the women performed at St. Augustine’s Church in Augusta.

Now working on new music, the chorus welcomes women and girls interested in singing to join them on Wednesdays. Carpooling is available. Call Donna Ryder at 582-5523, Carolyn Gray at 563-3578 or Lea Davis at 445-2234.
