Crop report

OXFORD – Oxford County farmers have until July 15 to file a 2003 crop report with the Farm Service Agency office in Oxford. Crop reports list the type of crops grown, where they are grown and the number of acres planted.

Farmers and landowners who participate in agency’s commodity programs, such as the Direct and Counter-Cyclical Program and the 10-year Conservation Reserve Program, are required to certify their crop acres. Acreages are also used to calculate the financial assistance producers could receive through various disaster programs.

Producers reporting after July 15 are subject to late filing fees.

Farmers not participating in a current agency program are still encouraged to certify their acres with the office. Producers needing more information or wanting to set up an appointment to report their acres should contact the Oxford County office at 743-5789, extension 2.
