NORWICH, Conn. (AP) – Mike Cervenak hit a three-run home run and the Norwich Navigators held on for a 5-4 win over the Portland Sea Dogs in the Eastern League Saturday afternoon.

Cervenak hit his blast off losing pitcher Junior Herndon (5-4), who lost for the first time since May. It was the only runs Herndon allowed in five innings.

Rene Miniel relieved Herndon in the sixth inning and allowed two hits before throwing away a bunted ball to allow Norwich (40-51) to score two runs, including what proved to be the game-winner.

Portland (48-41) scored in the first inning on Justin Sherrod’s RBI single, and three more times in the eighth inning on consecutive RBI singles from Kelly Shoppach, Sherrod and Sean McGowan.
