NORWICH, Conn. (AP) – Alejandro Freire had two hits and three RBIs to lead the Norwich Navigators to a 7-5 victory over the Portland Sea Dogs in the Eastern League Sunday.

Freire had an RBI single in the first inning as the Navigators (41-51) took a 3-0 lead, then added a two-run single in the second inning as Norwich went ahead 6-2.

Mike Cervenak and Doug Clark had run-scoring hits in the first inning. Norwich got its third run in the second on a fielding error with the bases loaded.

Mitch Walk (3-9) got the win. He allowed three runs on seven hits in five innings. He walked three and struck out seven. R.D. Spiehs got the final two outs of the game to pick up his fifth save.

Greg Montalbano (2-1) took the loss, surrendering six runs on seven hits in 1 2/3 innings.

Carlos Leon and Jeremy Owens both had three hits for the Sea Dogs (48-42). Justin Headley added two hits and two RBIs. Justin Sherrod homered in the ninth inning for Portland, which left the bases loaded in the ninth.
