1923 – 2003

LEWISTON – Josephine I. Palmer, 80, of 540 College St. died Sunday evening, July 13, at Montello Manor following a long illness.

She was born in Palermo, on April 21, 1923, the daughter of Joseph and Viola (Cox) Dyer and had been a resident of this community since 1999. Prior to moving to Lewiston she resided in the Portland and Naples communities.

She was the widow of Arthur Palmer whom she married on Aug. 23, 1948 and who died on March 1, 1999.

She is survived by three daughters, Evelyn Powers of Auburn, Irene Hincks and her husband Maynard of Scarborough and Betty Pettengill and her husband Donald of Huntersville, SC.; three sons, Kenneth McNeill and his wife Jacqueline of Augusta, Stephen Palmer and his wife Susan of Naples and Dennis Palmer of Westbrook; one sister, Eva Ryan of Albany, NY; 16 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by one sister, Ruth Webster in 1948.
