SACO – Four Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary celebrated their religious jubilees in a ceremony on June 22 at the Sisters’ Chapel of the Bay View Convene.

Sister Theresa Rounds, provincial superior, welcomed everyone and congratulated the jubilarians. The Most Rev. Joseph J. Gerry, 0SB, Portland Diocese bishop, presided at the Eucharistic Liturgy assisted by Monsignor Marc B. Caron, co-chancellor; the Rev. Renald D. Labarre, pastor of St, Joseph Parish, homilist; the Rev. Bertrand Poussard and Deacon John Guerin. The sisters’ choir performed. A dinner followed.

Sister Theresa Couture was born in Lewiston and is a graduate of St. Peter’s School and St. Dominic Regional High School. She spent three years in Paris, France, perfecting her French. She received a bachelor of arts in Spanish and a master of arts in languages. Theology became her next specialty.

After her studies in gerontology, she directed a department at St. Andre Health Care Facility and worked at St. Andre Home Inc. in public relations. She was a convent superior for several years before becoming provincial superior. She is teaching high school classes to the inmates at the York County Jail, Alfred.

Sister Madeleine D’Anjou was born in Quebec. She taught in Biddeford and in Canada. In preparation for her work at St. Andre Health Care, D’Anjou attended several colleges and health centers, graduating from Notre Dame University in 1987. As administrator of the facility now under the stewardship of Covenant Health Systems Inc., she continues to meet the needs of hundreds of elderly citizens.

Sister Normande Fortin is a native of Winslow. A teacher for the major part of her religious life, Fortin taught in the parochial schools of Lawrence and Metheun, Mass., and in Biddeford. She was later in pastoral ministry to the patients at Seton Hospital, Watervllle. She now welcomes guests to the community gift shop.

Sister Marie Roy was born in Waterville. For 10 years she caught in parochial schools. At St. John the Evangelist in South Portland, she worked in the Catechetical program for 27 years, as director for 20. Her main studies have been in theology with degrees and certificates from Boston College and from the Weston School of Theology in Cambridge, Mass. Roy resides in the Bay View Convent.
