1925 – 2003

RUMFORD – William H. Gill Jr., 76, died Thursday, July 17, at his home in Rumford. He was a resident of Franklin St., Rumford.

Born in Kearney, NJ, on Dec. 21, 1925, he was the son of William H. and Elva (Perry) Gill Sr. He was a graduate of North Arlington High School. He worked as an electrician for AT&T in Andover.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. Mr. Gill was a member of the Robert Shand Post 1641 VFW; former member of Napoleon Ouellette Post 24 American Legion.

He loved going to the library and for walks. After his retirement he was involved in Military Intelligence. He was married in North Arlington, NJ, on May 30, 1951 to Catherine Starrett who survives of Rumford.

Other survivors include his daughter, Patricia Gill of Rumford; four sons, Christopher of Lexington Park, Md., Dennis of Oak Harbor, Wash., William III of Del City, Okla., Thomas of Reno Valley, Calif.; his brother, Harold of Georgia; and several grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents. He will be sadly missed by his family.
