AUBURN – Michael Roy of New Gloucester has been named director of financial aid at Central Maine Community College.

“Even though we offer the lowest tuition in Maine, most CM students need some form of financial assistance to get through college,” said Charles Collins, dean of students at the college. “We try to make sure that money is not the barrier to someone starting their college career with us. Michael has worked in our Financial Aid Office for several years and has the expertise to help students get the assistance they need. We’re delighted that he has taken the position of director; our students will surely benefit from his knowledge.”

Roy will be responsible for administering federal and state grant, work study and loan programs, as well as over $50,000 in private scholarships. “The College Foundation raises money from our community and provides us with a lot of scholarships each year. Some are restricted to students in certain programs or from particular geographic areas, but many are given strictly on the basis of need,” said Roy.
