1929 – 2003

DIXFIELD – Dewey S. “Tom” Brown, 74, of Common Road, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, July 19. He was at home with his family by his side. He was born in Dixfield, Feb. 17, 1929, a son of Oral and Hester (Salisbury) Brown and received his education in local schools.

On Sept. 15, 1951, he married Marion Daley in Dixfield. He was employed as a truck driver for many years and prior to his retirement worked at Merrill’s Sawmill in Dixfield. He was an avid outdoorsman and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and four-wheeling. His greatest joy was being surrounded by his family and friends and especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marion of Dixfield; his children, Joann Brown-Wardwell and her husband Calvin of North Jay, Bobby Brown and his wife Judy, Ruth Brown-White and her husband Chester, John Brown, Larry Brown, Laura Brown-Bellegarde, and Jeff Brown, all of Dixfield; sisters, Nellie Merrill of Sherwood, Missouri, Eveline Brown-Crawley of Dixfield, Maxine Brown-Gilbert, Phyllis Brown-Chiasson, and Betty Brown-Salatino, all of Rumford; 16 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son; a sister, Virgil Merrill; and a son-in-law, Kevin Bellegarde.
