The sewage treatment plant’s board of directors has awarded a bid for dechlorination and aeration improvements.
A $777,550 bid from Apex Construction Inc. of Chocorua, N.H., was $12,450 less than an estimate by Wright Pierce, an engineering firm from Topsham that contracts with the plant.
The project will make improvements to the aeration basin and will include construction of a dechlorination system.

Lewiston: LAWPCA refinances debt
The directors of the Lewiston-Auburn Water Pollution Control Authority hope to save more than $90,000 by refinancing bonded indebtedness from 2001.
Meeting Tuesday, the LAWPCA board voted to refinance with a lower intrerest rate with the Maine Municipal Bond Bank for sewer bonds issued two years ago.

Lisbon: Selectmen address openings
Selectmen put off filling appointed positions on the Board of Appeals, Planning Board, Recreation Committee and Conservation Commission until a new subcommittee headed up by Selectmen Mike Bowie meets to interview propsective candidates.
There are a total of seven openings, four regular positions and three alternates.
In a related discussion, Forestry Board Chairwoman Charlotte Farnum asked for a clarification of the town’s policy on attendance by members on her board, which meets once a month in the afternoon.
Farnum said she has been approached by others interested in serving on the panel. Selectman Scott D’Amboise offered his resignation on the spot saying he was unable to meet during the daytime.
Selectmen decided to move another board member, Town Engineer Ryan Leighton, from a regular position to ex-officio, meaning he would be available for consultation but would not be a voting member.
A third member, who has missed the last three meetings, will be contacted and asked about his intentions, selectmen said.

Lisbon: Club gets snow groomers
The local snowmobile club has found two used Alpine snowmobiles equipped with trail groomers at a cost of $9,000, which is $6,000 less than the $15,000 appropriated by voters at town meeting, Town Manager Curtis Lunt said. The machines were purchased from a snowmobile club in Madison.

Lisbon: Town gets bond-rate refund
Lower interest rates through refinancing by the Maine Bond Bank has resulted in Lisbon getting an unexpected one-time refund of $149,000 from the Bond Bank. The refund is for bonds the town got in 1986 ,1988 and 1990, Town Manger Curtis Lunt said.

Lisbon: Earth Tech contract extended
Selectmen have agreed to extend the existing contract with Earth Tech, the firm that operates the sewer treatment plant, for an additional year at a cost of $640,000.
