LEWISTON – After being disappointed that the 1927 time capsule had turned to dust, the Franco-American Heritage Center at St. Mary’s board of directors has replaced it.
“We will never see the day when this one is opened,” said Rita Dube, center director, “but we have sealed this one airtight for other generations to know about what we are doing today with this beautiful former church building.”
The new capsule includes brochures on the project, letters of support from community and state leaders, photographs of the renovations taking place, a case statement, a list of donors to the project, architectural drawings, coins, all minted in 2003 and other related materials.
Lionel Guay, board president, said, “The project is coming along as scheduled. We are pleased with the renovations and changes so far, and we look forward to the day when the entire renovations are completed.”
