NORWAY – The next coffeehouse open mic at the Unitarian Universalist Church on Main St. will be Friday, July 25. Sign-up for performers begins at 6:30, open mic begins around 7.
Those attending are encouraged to bring acoustic musical instruments, favorite songs, poetry and short stories to share creative talents in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
Non-performers of all ages are invited. There will be vending opportunities for artists with CDs or writing for sale and homebaked goodies will also be available. Suggested donation is $3.
Started in January 2002 by songwriter and composer Heather Pierson, the monthly open mic nights are also fund-raisers for local nonprofits and charities.

Garden photos
SUMNER – Mark Silber, a noted photographer, author and owner of Hedgehog Hill Farm, will give a lecture titled “Photographing in the Gardens” at 2 p.m Sunday, July 27, at Hedgehog Hill Farm.
Participants can bring a camera and film and join in the discussion and an hour of shooting.
The farm gardens are open to the public for strolls, painting and photographing from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day except Mondays.
Free lectures are held rain or shine and no reservations are needed.
