1932 – 2003
LEWISTON – Gloria A. Luciano, 71, a longtime resident of Livermore Falls, passed away Tuesday, July 22, at St. Mary’s Hospital.
She was born on June 29, 1932, the daughter of Wilfred and Carrie Howes. She was a graduate of Jay High School and the University of Maine in Farmington with a BS degree in education. She taught school in the towns of Leeds, Greene and Turner, retiring in 1986.
She was a member of MTA, NEA, Maine Association of Retirees and Alumni Association of University of Maine, Farmington. She was a very devoted mother who loved spending time with her children. They will always felt she was the world’s greatest mother.
On June 26, 1976 she married Mario (Nick) Luciano. He passed away on Dec. 13, 1999. They had many wonderful years together, traveling, skiing, playing golf and gardening.
She was the beloved mother of a daughter, Nadine Niedner; three sons, Charles Niedner, Kirk and his wife Lorna Niedner and Mark Niedner and his companion Nancy Humlicek; a sister, Madeline Barnes; two brothers, Lt. Col. Rodney Howes (ret.) and his wife Mary Ann and Dr. Carroll Howes and his wife Sandy; two stepchildren, Kathy Frey and her husband Frank and Mary Radsky and her husband Peter; a special friend and cousin, Diane Berry; eight grandchildren, Amy Niedner, Myles Niedner, Veronica Alado, Luke Niedner, Shaina Niedner and Lexie Niedner, Tanya Radsky and Maria Radsky; four great-grandchildren, Jeremiah, Chancey, Jacqueline & Vinney.
