LIVERMORE FALLS – More research will be needed by town officials before final action on a request Monday for one 15-minute parking spot on Main Street in front of the hot-dog stand.

Sarah Benoit of Wayne, who runs the stand, said she needs the space so customers can drive up for quick service. Some cars park there all day, she said.

It appears the town already has a one-hour parking limit, which hasn’t been enforced, and Benoit agreed that one hour would be better than nothing.

Town Manager Alan Gove plans to look up the town’s Parking Ordinance before further discussion on Aug. 4.

At that time, the board will also decide how to establish a Dispatch Study Committee. So far, 13 citizens have indicated an interest in serving. Selectmen had previously discussed having only four residents work with the police and fire chiefs, an ambulance representative and the road foreman.

Gove said that Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center was sold July 17, at which time the town received $69,000 in back taxes and sewer taxes. A quit-claim deed was issued.

Approval was given to a policy on billing for Fire Department services. Items billable would include labor, materials, Class A foam, personal-protective gear and equipment, such as mobile radios.

The incidents for which billing would be done include:

• Auto accidents (fluid spills, traffic control, extrication).

• Transportation incidents involving hazardous materials (same as above).

• Fuel spills at businesses (failures or lack of maintenance on dispensing equipment).

• Control (fire incidents that get out of the owners’ control, or the permittee’s, both in cases where a permit was issued and where no permit was issued but one was required).

• False alarms (after two such instances within a year).

• Fire suppression (in incidents not listed above).

Fees for the billing will be $300 for a minimum call-out for responding to an accident and $200 for the hourly truck rate.
