AUBURN – The Auburn-Lewiston Kiwanis Club has awarded scholarships to three area students, who each received $500.
Cara Gaumont, graduate of Lewiston High School, will attend Smith College in the fall, entering the teaching program. She took Bates College classes this spring. She is the daughter of Rick and Denise Gaumont of Lewiston.
Andrew Girouard, graduate of St. Dominic Regional High School, will enter the University of Maine in the fall. He will also focus on teaching. Girouard was involved in extracurricular activities. He is the son of Ronald and Joline Girouard of Lewiston.
Tess Chamberland will enter the University of Maine at Farmington in the fall. The Edward Little High School graduate will major in psychology. She was twice voted as Volunteer of the Year. She is the daughter of Bob and Arlene Chamberland of Auburn.
The students were selected from more than 25 applicants. Doug Dwinal is scholarship committee chairman.
