Why does Tony Blasi criticize Lebron James who, against all odds (being a young, black male in the United State), has made something out of his life (July 17)? Who is really responsible for the obscene amounts of money lavished on sports? Eighteen-year-old Lebron James or others, such as:
TV networks who cynically market black, urban culture?
Universities who stab each other in the back to maximize TV revenues?
College coaches who, in addition to ludicrous salaries and sweetheart deals with boosters, sign equally ludicrous contracts with the huge shoe companies of the world?
The Sun Journal, which dedicates a daily section and a team of reporters to sports? How dedicating a page to teachers and public safety officers?
You and I who buy the overpriced tickets, who subscribe to the overpriced cable networks, and who buy the overpriced sneakers made by people working in sweatshop conditions?
