OXFORD – The Oxford Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Friday, July 25, at the Kay House, 73 Pleasant St.

Dorene Bartlett will present the history of the Oxford Mill End Store. The public is invited and refreshments will be served.

Band to appear

BERLIN, N.H. – The Cajun band, Offshore Acres, will appear at 7 p.m. Friday, July 25, in the Northern Forest Heritage Park’s amphitheater, 961 Main St.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for ages 6 to 12 and free, under 6.

EA degree

WATERFORD – Mt. Tir’em Lodge 132, AF and AM, will hold a special communication for the purpose of exemplifying the EA degree on Tuesday, July 29.

A potluck supper will be served at 6:30 p.m. with the special meeting at 7:30. Worthy Master Mark Tempesta will preside in the East. All masons are invited.

The next regular meeting of the lodge will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, preceded by a 6:30 potluck supper. All masons are invited.

NORWAY – The Support Group for Breast Cancer Patients and Survivors will not meet on July 30. The next meeting will be from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.

The meetings provide a place to talk, find a friend, get answers to questions and to receive support. Ideas for special projects include decorating hats, making bags for the Reach to Recovery Program and joining a team for a walk on Making Strides Against Breast Cancer scheduled for Oct. 19 in Brunswick, Cape Elizabeth or Damariscotta.

Derby races

WEST PARIS – Downhill Derby Racing will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, at Derby Hill, Kingsbury Street. Registration will be held at 11 a.m.

The snack shack will be open and there will be 50/50. The races are for children ages 7 to 17. Spare cars are available for new drivers.

Blood drive

LOVELL – An American Red Cross blood drive will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, at the Lovell Firehouse, Main Street. All donors will receive free T-shirts.

SOUTH PARIS – The AARP annual picnic will be held at noon Monday, Aug. 11, at the home of Marvis and Jim Maynard.

Those who have not signed up and are planning to attend should call Betty Hayes at 527-2105 to make reservations and sign up to bring a dish to share no later than Aug. 6. Bring a chair. There is a $3 charge for guests.
