NORWICH, Conn. (AP) – Sean McGowan had three hits, including a three-run home run, as the Portland Sea Dogs beat the Norwich Navigators 7-1 in the Eastern League Sunday.

McGowan, who was released by the Navigators’ parent San Francisco Giants earlier this season, singled in the second inning, homered in the fifth and added another single in the ninth.

His home run came off losing pitcher Elliott Brown (1-1) and gave Portland (56-46) a 6-0 lead.

Jeremy Owens finished with three hits, including a solo homer in the sixth inning, and Justin Headley added two hits for the Sea Dogs.

Josh Stevens (10-5) got the win. He allowed one run on nine hits in six innings. He struck out three and walked none.

Brown surrendered seven runs on seven his in six innings.

Chris Curry and Carlos Mendoza had three hits each for Norwich (47-59). Curry singled twice and homered leading off the fifth inning.
