AUBURN – Donna Richey, development director for the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society, was presented a check by Scott Duplissis, Missy Bourgoin, Lori Aube and Audrey Machowski of the Hartford Agency in Lewiston on June 10.
The employees and their dogs raised more than $260 in sponsorship when they walked as a team at the Humane Society’s Strutt Your Mutt Dog Walk. The event, held on June 7 at Railroad Park in Lewiston, generated more than $8,000 in proceeds, all of which goes directly to the homeless, abandoned and abused animals for food, shelter, veterinary care and a chance at a new home.
The society provides a safe haven for approximately 3,600 sick, homeless and abused animals in the greater Androscoggin area a year. The primary support for the shelter comes from fund-raising events and donations.
The society, located at 3312 Hotel Road, is in the middle of a capital campaign to build a new shelter. If interested in helping, call 786-4713. Anyone interested in volunteering at the shelter or adopting an animal can visit the shelter or the Web site at www.gahumane.org.
