MINOT – The Minot Historical Society met at the John White home on Jackson Hill Road on July 9. White and his son, Ted, gave the members and guests a tour of their flower gardens.
The Whites have cultivated Japanese and Siberian iris. White explained and demonstrated how they create new hybrids by cross-pollination. They have traveled far and wide to obtain the plants.
Members were also given a tour of their hosta garden, which has walking paths. Ted is also working with lilies.
The members returned to the Minot Town Office for the meeting. The secretary reported that the attested incorporation papers have been received.
The society will work on documenting homes and buildings in September. Work on the William Ladd Homestead site will also continue in September.
The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, at the Minot Town Office when the speaker will by Judy Elfring of the Mayflower Society. Anyone interested is invited.
