Jerry Bruckheimer and Dick Wolf produce TV’s

top programs.

NEW YORK (AP) – In their summerlong, personal battle for television supremacy, Dick Wolf beat Jerry Bruckheimer 4-3 last week in Nielsen Media Research’s top 10.

Four of the Wolf-produced “Law & Order” shows on NBC were in the top 10. The three Bruckheimer shows on CBS were top-rated “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” “Without a Trace” and “CSI: Miami.”

Despite a raft of new reality shows this summer, viewers have proven their loyalty to these dramas and other old favorites. The 11 most-watched programs last week were all repeats, and no new program was seen by more than 9 million people.

NBC won the week, averaging 7.7 million viewers (5.4 rating, 10 share). CBS averaged 7.4 million (5.1, 9), ABC had 5.8 million (3.9, 7), Fox 5.6 million (3.6, 7), UPN 2.8 million (1.9, 4), the WB 2.3 million (1.6, 3) and Pax TV 820,000 (0.6, 1).

NBC’s “Nightly News” won the evening news ratings race, averaging 9.4 million viewers (6.8 rating, 15 share). ABC’s “World News Tonight” had 9 million (6.2, 13) and the “CBS Evening News” had 7.1 million (5.1, 11).

A ratings point represents 1,067,000 households, or 1 percent of the nation’s estimated 106.7 million TV homes. The share is the percentage of in-use televisions tuned to a given show.
