PARIS – There was some fidgeting, a little bit of jumping and only one time-out.

But all in all, the 35 children and half dozen adults attending the Paris Library summertime children’s story hour seemed to have a great time.

Joan Parker and Ann MacDonald read selections from the books, “I’m Still Here in the Bathtub,” “Inch by Inch the Garden Song” and “The Itsy Bitsy Spider” while the Rev. Elaine Tullis of the Second Congregational Church of Paris, played the guitar.

The children clapped, slapped their knees and snapped their fingers to classics such as “He’s got the Whole World,” “The Itsy Bitsy Spider” and even learned a new one: “Stinky, Stinky Diaper Change” sung to the tune of “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.”

Director of the Imagination Garden Day Care Center of Paris, Jen Campbell, and Brenda Dionne, director of the Community Child Center Day Care Program, said they bring the children to the Tuesday and Thursday sessions at the library.

“It’s absolutely fantastic; the learning, listening and friendship that goes on here,” Campbell said.

Kayleen Glover, 8, said she comes to the session a lot over the summer.

“They should come here because it’s really fun,” she said.
