PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – A lawyer putting together lawsuits stemming from The Station Feb. 20 fire wants a foam distributor to turn over documents and foam samples sold to the nightclub’s owners.

Attorneys want to sue manufacturers and others. Investigators say the foam helped fuel the fire that killed 100 people and injured 200 others.

The fire began when a band’s pyrotechnic display ignited the foam.

The subpoena asks for the company to produce documents relating to the sale of foam to club owners Jeffrey and Michael Derderian, as well as any insurance policies that would relate to claims against American Foam arising from the fire.

Mandell also asked for samples of the foam products the Derderians were sold.

The Derderians bought The Station nightclub in March 2000, and purchased a type of packaging foam to use as soundproofing in late June 2000, after West Warwick police had warned them of neighbors’ complaints about noise.
