1929 – 2003
FARMINGTON – Thelma C. Keene, 73, of Titcomb Hill Road, Farmington, died Friday evening, August 1, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston after a brief illness.
She was born Nov. 1, 1929 in Wilton, a daughter of the late Leo A. and Thelma L. Chandler Stevens Sr.
She worked in various factories throughout the Farmington area for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, camping, playing bingo, going to Chinese auctions, and doing for others. She especially enjoyed spending time and camping at the Big Eddy in Lexington.
She is survived by four daughters, Rachel Tuttle and her husband Wayne of Temple, Nancy Cain and her husband Larry Sr. of Industry, Donna Fowler and her husband Melvin of North Carolina, and Brenda Pinkham and her friend Jeff Hadyden of Solon; one son, Vernon Keene and his friend Paula Buchanan of Farmington; a daughter-in-law, Cathy Keene of Farmington; two brothers, Leo Stevens Jr. and his wife Elaine of Temple, and Silas Stevens and his wife Linda of Temple; three step brothers, Leon Cushman of Temple, Archie Cushman and his wife Violette of Chesterville, Willis Cushman of Farmington; two step sisters, Rose Tilton of Texas, and Olive Couture and her husband Gary of Jay; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Keene Sr. who died March 14, 1986; and two sisters, Louisa LaPlante and Clothild Reed.
