WILTON – Saturday’s rain-darkened skies didn’t stop a large crowd from gathering along the Main Street parade route for the annual Wilton Blueberry Festival parade.
Onlookers of all ages were lined up on both sides of the street to watch the one-and-a-half-hour event that also this year celebrated Wilton’s 200th birthday.
The Kora Shrine Temple was represented by 52 units that included both marchers and vehicles. Also featured in the parade were floats that included the Franklin Savings Bank, Calvary Baptist Church and the Giant’s football team cheerleaders. Marchers included Gooding’s Tai Kwan Do Studio and the 15th Alabama Volunteer Corp.
Fire trucks and rescue vehicles participated from Wilton, East Dixfield, Temple, New Sharon, Weld, Livermore, Livermore Falls, Mechanic Falls, Carthage, Jay and Strong.
Other events held included a quilt show and a Civil War re-enactment. Many vendors were lined up along the street selling everything from balloons to baskets and other handmade craft items.
