1918 – 2003
LEWISTON – Ruth A. Cluff, 90, a resident of Schooner Estates, and formerly of 98 Lake St., Auburn where she resided with her sister, Jeannette for 30 years died Saturday morning, Aug. 2, at Central Maine Medical Center following a short illness.
She was born in Auburn, Feb. 17, 1918, the daughter of William T. and Zoe (French) Cluff. She was educated in Auburn schools graduating from Edward Little High School in June 1931. She graduated from Nasson College in 1934 with a degree in Home Economics.
She was employed by Central Maine Power Co. for many years as a home economist, and will be remembered particularly for her “Cooking Schools.” She also taught home economics in Beverly, Mass., for several years.
She was a member of the Auburn Art Club, Woman’s Literary Union, and the Women’s Hospital Association at Central Maine Medical Center. Her hobbies were her garden, playing bridge, and being at home for her family and friends. She attended the Auburn Methodist Church.
She is survived by her sister, Doris E. Jenkins of Schooner Estates in Auburn; her brother, William M. and his wife, Winifred M. Cluff of Wellesley, Mass.; two nephews, Gregory B. and his wife, Lynn Cluff of Charlotte, Vt., and Barry M., and his wife, Susan Cluff of Wellesley, Mass.; three grandnephews, Adam, Ben, and Brett Cluff; and one grandniece, Amy T. Cluff.
