LISBON – Michelle Mitchell, 31, of Crowley Road in Sabattus was listed in stable condition Tuesday night with injuries suffered when her car slammed into a utility pole on Route 9 early Tuesday morning.

Mitchell, who was driving alone in her 1990 Subaru, had to be extricated from the car by Lisbon and Lisbon Falls emergency personnel.

Lisbon Police Sgt. Harry Moore said Mitchell was driving south on Route 9 near the Webster Road intersection in rain and fog, failed to negotiate a left turn and slammed into a utility pole and snapped it.

She was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston where a nursing supervisor said she was in stable condition late Tuesday.

Investigating officers were Ryan McGee and Sgt. Patrick Gagnon. The 12:24 a.m. crash remains under investigation, police said Tuesday night.
