1930 – 2003

AUBURN – Helen M. Grenier, 73, of 185 Riverside Drive in Auburn went to be with the Lord and her husband Gerard Wednesday, Aug. 6. She died peacefully with her family by her side.

She was born April 25, 1930, the daughter of John and Lillian Ayotte Mathieu. She attended Lewiston schools and graduated from Lewiston Adult Education in 1982.

On Sept. 3, 1951 she married Gerard T. Grenier at St. Peter & Paul Church. He died Aug. 20 1988. She worked as a waitress for many years and later worked at General Electric in Auburn where she later retired in 1990.

Her hobbies included quilting, knitting, crosstitching, Beano and her family. She will be sadly missed by her beano family. She was a member of St. Louis Parish Auburn Catholic Community. She was also a member of the Woman’s Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus 8742 in Auburn and the American Legion Post 153 of Auburn.

Survivors include four sons, Gerard R. Grenier of Lafayette, Colo., John R. and his wife Linda Grenier of Auburn, Ricky L. and his wife Pam Grenier of Lewiston, James M. and his wife Trudy Grenier of Auburn; two daughters, Nancy R. and her husband Ray Reed of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., and Sonia “Sonny” P. and her husband Mark Doustout of Auburn; 11 grandchildren, Brian Caouette, Tina Lafrance, John Grenier, Sarah Klassen, Tammy Carney, Niki Raftelis, Tony, Jenny, Mathieu, Molly, and Nickolas Grenier; 10 great-grandchildren, Matthew Pinkham and Hartlie Grenier, “Her Book Ends,” Katelyn Pinkham, Aurore Klassen, Taylor Acierno, Courtney Caouette, Jaden Grenier, Devin Carney, Kaylee Fernald, and Jared Grenier; one brother, Fern Mathieu and his wife Rita of Lewiston.

She was predeceased by one sister, Rita Pepin.
