LIVERMORE – The Livermore-Livermore Falls Historical Society will hold its annual lawn sale Friday and Saturday, Aug. 8 and 9, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Boothby’s Farm Stand on Route 4.

Proceeds from the sale will be used to restore their historic building, the former North Livermore Reading Club.

Also on Friday will be a food sale by the Livermore Falls Women’s Club, a member of the Maine Federation and General Federation of Women’s Clubs.

Proceeds from their sale will benefit the thermal imaging camera being purchased by the Livermore Fire Department.

Shriners Parade set for Saturday

RANGELEY – The Western Mountains Shrine Club and Kora Shrine will again provide its annual parade starting at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, on Main Street. For more than 16 years, the Shrine Parade has been held for the residents and summer guests in the area. The parade will feature cars, clowns and music.

Church to meet

at Long Pond

LIVERMORE – Parishioners of First Baptist Church will hold their morning worship Sunday, Aug. 10, at the home of George and Roberta Morrill on Long Pond.

Those wishing may take items for lunch to follow the 10:30 a.m. service.

Program hosts Mushroom Walk

RANGELEY – The Natural Science Program at the Wilhelm Reich Museum will host a Mushroom Walk from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, at the Sheltered Classroom at Orgonon. There is no charge for the program. This popular workshop will be presented this year by Michaeline Mulvey and Ted Elliot, members of the Maine Mycological Society.

Members of the society are professional botanists and laymen with a strong interest in mushrooms. They will lead groups through the museum trails to identify and discuss the different mushrooms.

Camp reunion

set for Aug. 10

STARKS – A Camp Reunion Day 2003 for friends and alumni of the Camp at the Eastward will be 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10. The afternoon will include camp tours, including instruction on ropes and challenge course elements; recounting the traditions of camp; fellowship; and a potluck dinner at 6 p.m.

Attendees are asked to bring a casserole, salad or dessert. Donations given that day will benefit Camp at the Eastward. For more information, people can call 696-5496.

Birthday parade

TEMPLE – The Temple Bicentennial Parade will be Saturday, Aug. 16, starting with a lineup at 9:30 a.m. on the Intervale Road. The parade will begin at approximately 10 a.m. The theme for the parade is “200 Years and Look at Us Now.” Anyone is welcome to participate in the parade. Ribbons will be awarded. Farmers’ ballot

FARMINGTON – Nominations are being accepted by the Franklin County Farm Service Agency from eligible farmers and landowners who’d like to be listed on the election ballot for December’s County Committee Election.

The committee represents farmers in their local communities and makes decisions on crop bases and yields, commodity loans, conservation programs, disaster payments and other federal farm assistance programs.

Nomination forms are available from the Farm Service Agency office. Individuals may nominate themselves or another individual, but that person must also sign the nominating petition. Nomination forms have to be returned to the county office by Sept. 5. Election ballots will be mailed to eligible voters in late November and must be returned by Dec. 1. Elected members and alternates will take office Jan. 1 for a three-year term.

The current representatives for this area are Theresa Hardy on the county committee and Bruce Tracy, Bussie York and Ronald Wing as alternates and area members.
