1943 – 2003
BOSTON, Mass. – David C. Hagar, 59, of Chadsey Road, Pownal, was promoted to Glory on Friday, August 8, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Mass.
He was born Sept. 14, 1943, in Portsmouth, N.H., the son of Howard H. and Geraldine Giddinge Hagar. He attended Freeport Schools.
On May 12, 1962, in Virginia, he married Beverly J. Lapierre.
He faithfully served his Lord and was a member of the Brunswick Church of the Nazarene for the last 12 years. He served on the Nazarene District Advisory Board, the local church board. Always helping others, he took two missionary trips to Kosavo. He was also taking pastorial courses.
He served 23 years in the United States Navy, with two tours of duty in Vietnam. Retired as a senior chief, he was a life member of the VFW Post 7738 in Bath, and the DAV in Togus. He also served as captain of the Pownal Fire Department and was a founding member in 1975 of the First Sea Cadets in the State of Maine, under the guidance of the Navy League.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years; two sons, Keith and his wife Carmie Hagar, and Kenneth and his wife Heather Hagar, all of Pownal; two daughters, Bonnie Litchfield of Topsham, and Karen Hagar of Pownal; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother; two sisters; and several nieces and nephews.
