AUBURN – The Robin Dow Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, at the American Legion Hall, Washington Street. The board of directors will meet at 10 a.m.
Members are reminded to bring in raffle table items, and fresh garden vegetables are welcome to the raffle table. Members will play bingo after lunch.
At the last meeting on July 23, 82 members attended the club’s annual picnic, with Lucien Marcoux in charge of the hot dogs and hamburgers. Members provided lunch for the buffet table. Various card games were played and following lunch bingo was held.
Dog training
AUBURN – The Great Falls Dog Obedience Club will start a new dog obedience class on Wednesday, Aug. 13, open to all dogs 4 months or older. The beginner’s class will be held at 6:30 p.m. and advanced at 7:30. To register and for more information call Diane Harrington, club trainer, at 784-7578.
Fund-raiser
LITCHFIELD – The Mid-Maine Equestrian Search and Rescue Unit will hold a fund-raiser from 1 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at the So Far-So Good Ice Cream Shop, Small Road. There will be ice cream, hay wagon rides, music, pony rides and food.
Leavitt alumni
TURNER – The Leavitt alumni will hold a reunion starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at the Turner Elementary School. All graduates of Leavitt Institute and Leavitt Area High School are invited to meet for a social time followed by a brief meeting. A catered lunch will be served at noon. Guests are welcome. Registrations
LISBON – Open Door Christian Academy is accepting registrations for the coming school year. Enrollment is available for pre-school (3-year-olds), kindergarten (ages 4 and 5) as well as grades one through 12. Space is limited.

Meditation
BRUNSWICK – The Brunswick/Portland Shambhala Meditation Center will offer the five-week introductory class, “Turning the Mind into an Ally,” in two locations: 60 Forest Ave., Portland, and 19 Mason St., Brunswick.
The class, open to beginning and experienced meditators, will begin at 7:15 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8, in Portland and 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, in Brunswick. The first meeting will be an open house, which includes meditation instruction followed by group discussion and refreshments.
Meditation, study and discussion will be based on the newly published book by Sakyong Mipham, “Turning the Mind into an Ally” (Riverhead, 2003). The class will meet weekly for five Mondays.

Bridge club
LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club held a membership game at the Multi-Purpose Center on Aug. 5. North/South winners in Flight A were: first in section and first overall, Fred Letourneau and Martine Begert; second in section and fourth overall, Anna Vitiello and Margaret Dunlop; third in section, Roger Briggs and Lucille Bilodeau; first in Flight B, Roger Briggs and Lucille Bilodeau; second, Doug and Betty Sise.
East/West winners in Flight A were: first in section and second overall, David Lock and Nancy Lindgren; second in section and third overall, Mike Quinn and Luke Merry; third in section and fifth overall, Randy Silver and Marguerite Zahoruiko.
Another game will be played at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, at the center. A partner is guaranteed.
The club also met on Aug. 6 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Winners in Flight A were: first, Mike St. John and Dorothy Kelleher; second, Mike Quinn and Leslie Buzzell; third, Martine Begert and Lucille Theriault; fourth, Jeanine Kivus and Rosemarie Goodwin; fifth, Alberta Turner and Lucille Bilodeau.
Flight B winners were: first, Lucille Bilodeau and Alberta Turner; second, Doug and Betty Sise.
Another game will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, at Schooner Estates.
