MONTVILLE – Descendants of John and Mary Rand Jones, children Sarah Furbush, John A. Jones, Mary Titcomb, Charles D. Jones, B. Frank Jones, will assemble at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 17 as guests of Edna and Elmin Mitchell, Edna’s Way, Montville. The lunch at noon is potluck. Bring food, utensils and folding chairs. Enjoy a mountain top view. A meeting will follow.

Beedy family

WILTON – Dorrie White and Debbie McGrath have created a theme of Hawaiian Luau for the 56th Beedy reunion at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 24 at Kineowatha Park. Guests are encouraged to dress for the occasion in Hawaiian or flower shirts, leis, grass skirts and hats. There will also be a Hula Gong Show.

The meeting will start at 11 and end before the potluck lunch at noon. The annual auction will follow. Bring attic treasures, homemade items, crafts, preserves, canned items or baked goods.

The 2003 officers are: president, Terry Corson of Kingfield; vice president, Clarence Gordon of Livermore; secretary, Carol Lanier of Turner; Paula Enman of Wilton; and treasurer, Adelia Meyer of Solon.

The 2003 food committee consists of Lois Gordon of Livermore, Nellie Tidswell of Auburn, and Carol Lanier of Turner.

Hill Family

NORWAY – Descendants of George and Florence Hill gathered for their 15th family reunion Aug. 3 on Frost Hill. The family property is owned by their grandson, Robert Thomas, and has been in the family for 84 years. Limerick families brought the youngest member, 1-year-old great-great-great-granddaughter Adriana Walsh and the oldest member, 70-year-old grandson James Henry Hill.

The Hills’ four remaining children, Ellen, Charles, Wilson, Rachel and Rebecca, were unable to attend. George and Florence also had 10 other children, all now deceased: Roscoe, Hartwell, James, Harold, George, Gertrude, Keith, Esther, Ruth and Floriston.

Rachel Hill had made a quilt again to be raffled. Vernita Thomas won the quilt.

The 50/50 drawing was won by Robyn Hill-Stitson. She donated her winnings back to the treasury for the 100th anniversary expenses. Total treasury balance is now $295.02.

McLean Reunion

PERU – The children of the late Russell and Jessie Crawford McLean had their first family reunion on July 19. This is to become a yearly event. This year’s reunion was held at Russell Jr. and Jackie McLean’s home on the Dickvale Road. There were 72 members present which included brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren, aunts, cousins from both sides of the family. They had a Chinese auction and a jail to help raise funds for future gatherings. There were picture boards with lots of old and new photos of family members past and present. Seven of the nine McLean siblings were present.
