I had the pleasure to spend most of my adult life living, working and raising my children in Auburn. This was a wonderful experience for us all, and I was sincerely proud to claim Auburn as my home. I cannot say that any more and absolutely feel that the Auburn Police Department’s policy is an embarrassment to all that live within the city’s borders.

If the police are unhappy with the method in which salaries, health plans, etc., are determined, perhaps they should do what is done in the private sector, quit.

What the Police Department has done to Norman Guay is small town black mail. This man was once one of you, an Auburn cop. He has given his adult life to making Auburn a better place for all of you to live.

The mayor doesn’t break any law, but you feel that it’s OK to stop him, arrest him and, of course, handcuff him. This, by the way, is not what the residents of Auburn want or will tolerate.

Since I do not live in Auburn anymore, I have no problem worrying about what might happen to me driving down one of Auburn’s streets, one mile over the speed limit. Residents of Auburn, stand up as a group and advise the Auburn police they better do what the rest of you have to do. Respect the law and its residents.
