I found the Sun Journal coverage of Mayor Normand Guay’s arrest quite troubling.

Your story practically convicted him of the OUI charge, bold print littered across the top portion of the paper. As I read on, the story developed into an tabloid-type story. Filled with little facts but plenty of hype.

I still believe that the state limit of intoxication is .08. Hidden in your initial story was the limit that Mayor Guay tested at was .01.

I’ve been out of school for a number of years, but I still believe that it takes 100/100ths to make one, and if you subtract the amount he tested from the legal limit the state has mandated, it still leaves 7/100ths.

I think you will agree that is a far cry from OUI.

Now I know that without spectacular headlines like these, paper sales would not be as brisk, but trying to ruin a persons reputation, someone who gives up his valuable time to better his community, for little compensation is quite another.

It takes dedicated and giving individuals to do what Mr.Guay does. I find it a cheap shot to use your forum to accuse without due evidence. There are other papers that use that form of journalism. Usually they find aliens or confirm the whereabouts of Elvis.
