LIVERMORE – The Brettuns Pond Association will hold its annual meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, at the Brettuns Community Building. This will be a potluck supper with each to take a main dish, salad or dessert, along with a place setting. A program will follow the meal, speaker to be announced.
Blood drives
FARMINGTON – Both Wal-Mart and the University of Maine at Farmington will be teaming with the American Red Cross to help avert a serious blood shortage in the area. Each will be hosting blood drives. On Tuesday, Sept. 2, the American Red Cross’ new Mobile Donor Coach will be open for blood donations from noon to 5 p.m. at Wal-Mart, 615 Wilton Road, Farmington. Due to limited space on the bus, volunteer blood donors should schedule an appointment with Peter Zanoni at Wal-Mart, 778-5344. Walk-ins will be accepted only if space is available. Later in the month, at the University of Maine in Farmington, a blood drive will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, in the North Dining Hall. All donors are asked to bring either a government-issued picture identification or their American Red Cross Blood Donor Card to the blood drive. Fishing derby
FARMINGTON – The Franklin County Children’s Task Force will hold a fishing derby 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 6, at Rollo Pond on the University of Maine Farmington campus. The fishing derby is open to children ages 5 and under, and the important men in their lives. The derby is open to the first 40 participants. The Franklin County Children’s Task Force has a limited number of fishing poles available. Lunch will be provided. The fishing derby is funded from a grant from the Maine Association for Mental Health. Those with a child, grandchild, niece or nephew age 5 or under and who would like to participate phone Franklin County Children’s Task Force at 778-6960 to register.
