1929 – 2003

WEST GARDINER – Doris D. Soucy, 74, of Indiana Road, died unexpectedly Monday, Aug. 11.

Born in Seneca Falls, N.Y., May 22, 1929, the daughter of Chester and Lorna (Ferry) Dark, she graduated from Mynders Academy in 1948 and from Keuka College in 1952, with a bachelor’s degree in nursing.

She worked as a public health nurse in Denver, Colo. before moving to Maine. She made nursing her life-long career and had worked for local hospitals, Maine State Government and also did private duty nursing.

She was a member of D.A.V. Ladies Auxiliary, past state commander of the State Department of D.A.V.A., current commander of Unit I Augusta, member of Acme Snowshoe Club in Lewiston, Pine Cone Reelers and the Rose of Sharon Chapter O.E.S. She was also a member Maine State Nursing Association.

She attended South Parish Congregational Church in Augusta and had a fondness for animals, especially her cats Mailei and Rama.

Survivors include her husband, Aleo J. Soucy of Togus; two sons, Bryce Ingraham and his wife, Maryann of Saco and Scott Ingraham and his wife, Kim of Augusta; a daughter, Carol Michaud and her husband, Michael of Augusta; a stepson, John Soucy and stepdaughter, Tracy Soucy; a brother, William Dark and his wife, Betty of Uxbridge, Mass.; seven grandchildren, Lindsay and Ashley Michaud, Catherine, Jake, Dan and Abigail Ingraham and Felicia Ingraham; and a nephew and other extended family in upstate New York.
