1913 – 2003

FARMINGTON – Edwin Dakin Parker, 90, of Wilton passed away Friday evening, Aug. 15, at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington after a brief illness.

He was born Feb. 12, 1913, in Temple, a son of Albert W. and Ethel (Dakin) Parker, Sr. He graduated from Wilton Academy in the Class of 1931.

On Aug. 10, 1936, he married Helen Poulin at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Wilton.

He was a store manager for the First National Stores in Strong and Dryden for many years. He was a First Lieutenant of the Maine State Guard during WWII until he was called to duty and joined the Army. He served at Ft. Knox, Ky., as a tank instructor. He later was employed at the Woolen Mill and for many years was employed at Norwock Shoe Co. and Bass Shoe Co. until his retirement in 1975.

He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, watching the “Price Is Right,” reading, gardening and travelling with his family. He was a long-time member of the Wilton Masonic Lodge #156 and was a former member of the Hosmer-Edwards American Legion Post, Wilton. He attended church for several years at the Farmingon Falls Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Helen, of Wilton; one daughter, Deanne Williams and her husband, Harold of McCrillis Corner; sons Edwin Joel Parker and his wife, Carolyn of Industry, Michael Parker and his wife, Rose-Ann of Jay; David Parker and his wife, Karen of Chesterville; two sisters, Lillian Grover of Freeport and Alberta Raymond of Waterville; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Caroline Stanton, brothers Leonard, Alton and Albert Parker Jr. and a grandson Terry Williams.
