RUMFORD – The Acadian Society will hold its monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, at the St. Athanasius and St. John Parish Center.

Following the business meeting there will be a short film on the Madeline Islands and another showing the process of making a movie in Nova Scotia about the Acadian expulsion in 1775. All are welcome.

SHS ’49 lunch

RUMFORD – The women of the Stephens High School class of 1949 will meet for their monthly luncheon at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, at Teena’s.

Bridge results

RUMFORD – The Rumford Duplicate Bridge Club held a game Aug. 14 and there was a tie for first between the team of Anna Cormier and Woody Mercier and the team of Marilyn and Eric Shalburg. Third was George Kimball and Bob Soucy.
