Officials will also review a recycling proposal.

WILTON – Selectmen will meet with annual Blueberry Festival Coordinator Shannon Smith during their Tuesday meeting. It begins at 7 p.m. at the town office. Officials will discuss with Smith the town’s financial responsibility in future Blueberry Festival celebrations.

Officials will also consider accepting as town property several of the loon sculptures that were created for the town’s Bicentennial/Blueberry Festival Celebration. That celebration took place the beginning of this month. The large painted loons were placed in several locations around town for people to enjoy.

In other business, selectmen will hear a quarterly report from Water and Sewer Department Superintendent Russ Mathers. Mathers will also present a Sewer Department budget to officials for their consideration.

Officials will review a proposal for recycling computers and computer monitors at the town’s transfer station and consider appointing Sandra Wyman to a committee to review the town’s zoning ordinance.

At their last meeting officials agreed to form the committee to look over the zoning ordinance in an attempt to improve the business climate in Wilton. At that meeting officials met with residents, business owners and members of the Planning Board.

The meeting was called after officials received a letter from Dennis Taylor of Taylor Made Homes who charged that the town was anti-business.

Taylor wrote the letter after controversy with the town’s Planning Board over the construction of a garage to be built about 50 feet from an intermittent stream. Planners did approve the building permit. Taylor said the town’s zoning ordinance and Comprehensive Plan are more restrictive than other area towns.

Code Enforcement Officer Brenda Medcoff said Wilton’s regulations are fairly in line with state regulations.

The committee will review the ordinance and bring their recommendations back to selectmen for their consideration.
