OTISFIELD – The annual Joe Holden Picnic, held each year at the East Otisfield Free Baptist Church, Rayville Road, will be held on Sunday, Aug. 24. The service and celebration will start at 11 a.m.

The theme for this year’s event will be: “Revisiting the Past.” People who were a part of the past history of the church will be depicted by descendants and members. Participants will be wearing costumes of the period in time that they were active in the church.

Some of the personalities from out of the past are: Albert Kemp, portrayed by Dave Hankins; Sarah Kemp, Ethel Turner; Horatio Peaco, Gordon Peaco; Lizzie Lamb, Ruth Lamb Watson; Annette Pottle, Jean Hankins; Estelle Stone, Carolyn Stone Zilinsky; Eva Fortier, Marian Culbert; Lois Dunstan, Ann Stone Hatson; sister of Joe Holden, Dorothy Lombard; and of course the famous professor, Joseph Holden, Ellis Stone.

The narrator will be David Watson. Also included in the program will be Dick Watson, scripture reader; and the minister of the church, the Rev, Gertrude Decoteau. Special music wilt be provided by the choir which will be singing some selections and also leading the congregation in singing music from the past. The program is being directed by Priscilla Delehanty.

The festivities will start at 11 a.m. Everyone is encouraged to bring a bag lunch. There will be free strawberry ice cream, peanuts, pop corn and a beverage.
