RUMFORD – The Rumford Public Library’s Summer Fest Program and accompanying summer reading program has completed its 27th year. Many local youngsters and summer visitors participated in the four weeks of fun and enrichment activities, which included crafts, science experiments, visits by snakes, a cat and a dog, a magician, picnics in the park, Fun Day and two performances of “The Little Mermaid” by the Children’s Theatre at the Rumford Town Hall auditorium.
The program was a great success thanks to individuals who gave of their time and talents, the businesses who sponsored the annual reading program, and the parents and caregivers who participated in the daily events with the children.
More than 60 children up through the age of 14 took part in the program, titled “Take Flight with Reading,” with 37 meeting reading goals all four weeks of the program.
