1913 – 2003

BRUNSWICK – Alice Maud Bennett, 90, died Thursday, Aug. 21, at Parkview hospital.

She was born May 24, 1913, in Boston, Mass., the daughter of John and Anne Beatrice Sherwood. She graduated from Mexico High School. Was a member of the Mexico Baptist Church.

She worked for the New England Telephone and Telegraph Co. On Aug. 15, 1940 she married Elijah Basil Bennett. She was a devoted wife and mother.

A wonderful cook and fun to be with. She will always be loved and missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include her brothers, Robert Sherwood, Canton and Edward (Aileen) Sherwood, South Harpswell; sons, Lee B. Bennett (Ginny Torman), Brunswick, Gary D. Bennett (Erin), Salem, N.H., and Hollis M. Bennett (Deena), Litchfield; daughter, Linda J. Lee, Elk River, Minn.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Elijah (Ozzie) Bennett; and brother, Walter Sherwood, Chilmark, Martha’s Vineyard Island.
