I just read today’s column about the naked child in the middle of the street. (Aug. 15)

I am very appalled to find out the mother was excused for neglecting the child. It is inexcusable to leave a child unattended for any reason.

Why isn’t child protective services on her case? It scares me to think that people do not care that this mother was so very neglectful. She is lucky to actually have a child to wake up to.

I have an 11-month-old child, and I can’t leave her sight unless I know that her safety is on the mind of her caregiver. That mother should take parenting classes or have some kind of action taken against her.
