1914 – 2003

AUBURN – Inez A. Creighton of Auburn and formerly of Pepperell, Mass., died Tuesday, Aug. 19.

She was married to the late William E. “Buster” Creighton, who died Dec. 9, 1997.

The daughter of the late Earl M. and Carrie Scales Stuart, she was born in Hyattsville, Md. on March 14, 1914. A resident of Pepperell since 1916, she attended and graduated from the Schools. She furthered her education at Fitchburg Teachers College in Fitchburg, receiving a Bachelors and Masters degree in education.

A fourth grade teacher in Pepperell for 30 years, she taught at the Peter Fitzpatrick School and the Clara M. Shattuck School. She was a longtime member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association.

She was a 50-year member of the Community Church of Pepperell. She also enjoyed singing, gardening and was an avid reader.

She is survived by one son, Richard W. Creighton and his wife Elizabeth Buker Creighton of Richmond and Columbia, S.C.; two grandchildren, Melissa Thigpen and her husband Michael Thigpen of Columbia, S.C., and Catherine E. Creighton and her husband Matthew S. Kovacevich of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and one great-grandchild, William Moultrie Thigpen of Columbia, S.C.
