Historical society meeting planned

MEXICO – The Mexico Historical Society will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, at the museum, 3 Oxford St. A cookout will be held on the lawn. New members are welcome. The museum is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursdays.

Derby to be held this weekend

MEXICO – Soap Box Derby rallies will be held Saturday and Sunday Aug. 30-31, at Wal-Mart parking lot.

On Saturday two rallies will be held, a double elimination race followed by a single elimination race.

Then on Sunday there will be a double elimination race.

Dirigo High School to host car show

DIXFIELD – The junior class at Dirigo High School is sponsoring Dirigo’s 13th annual Car Show from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, with awards presented at 1:30 p.m. Because of work being done at Harlow Park, this year the event will be held on the soccer field in Peru. DJ Unkomen will be performing. The classes will be: antiques, sport compact, motorcycles and four-wheelers, 4×4 and 2×4 trucks, 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s-up and special interest.
